Wilma Virgie (Wheeler) Mann

Wilma Virgie Mann, age 88, died Monday, September 18, 2023 in Mesquite, Nevada.  She was born March 18, 1935 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to John Davis Wheeler and Willie Bee Watterson.  On March 27, 1953 she married Walter Dale Mann in Bakersfield, CA.  He preceded her in death on July 17, 2023.
Wilma grew up in Bakersfield where she graduated high school.  She and Walter raised their two children in Lebec, California.  As a young woman, she worked as a waitress, but came to love being a homemaker once her children were born.  She found serving others brought her great joy as she helped in many civic and church activities.  She was an excellent seamstress and loved to dance.  She had a love for country music and started a Country Music Newspaper which she operated for many years.  As her health declined, she came to live with her son in Las Vegas.      Survivors include her son, John (Sherrie) of Las Vegas, NV; eight grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Cynthia; two brothers and one sister, Jewel, Jay and Alfred and one great granddaughter, Clairisa.
Funeral services and visitation will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 from 11 - 12 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 851 Monica Street, Bakersfield, CA 93306. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, CA 93306.  Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
