William VaNoy Hansen "Stub"
William VaNoy Hansen, 75, passed away November 22, 2009 at Mesa View Hospital in Mesquite, NV. He was born April 23, 1934 in Newdale, ID to Wayne and Nola (Haws) Hansen. He married Elaine Crawford Smith in Idaho Falls, ID on February 25, 1966.
He was raised in Newdale, ID and attended school in Newdale and Sugar City, ID and Western Wyoming community College in Rock Springs, WY. He worked 20 years at General Chemical Corp., a soda ash mine west of Green River, WY. He was disabled from an accident at the mine and he and his wife Elaine traveled winters in a motor home and lived in Green River, WY, until they moved to Beaver Dam, AZ in 2004.
He loved to golf, watch ball games and read.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Hansen of Beaver Dam, AZ; six sons, Kenton (Pam) Hansen of Ucon, ID, John (Mary) Hansen of Idaho Falls, ID, Wayne (Karen) Hansen of Boise, ID, Terral (Mary Beth) Smith of Austin, TX, Derral (Darlene) Smith of Green River, WY and Wade Smith of Tulsa, OK; four daughters, Michele (Clint) Egbert of New Castle, PA, Gaylene (Bruce) Portela of Clarkston, MI, Sheryl (Roger) Thompson of Rigby, ID and Nannette (Jerry) Sigler of Boise, ID; 31 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and one son.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 11 am (AZ time) at the LDS Church in Littlefield, AZ. A luncheon will follow. He was cremated and his ashes will be stowed at Green River, WY between the beautiful Green River and the golf course this next summer.
