William "Bill" Robert Barnett

William Robert Barnett, 91, died December 10, 2011 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born September 22, 1920 in Memphis, Tennessee to Charles and Mary Barnett. William grew up in Tennessee as a child and later moved to Los Angeles, California as a teenager. William fell in love with a wonderful lady named Shirley Ann Eldridge and married her January 9, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. William and Shirley were very active in the Baptist church as their family grew. He joined the United States Navy during World War II. He came up the ranks to Petty Officer serving on an Aircraft Carrier in the Pacific. William and Shirley lovingly raised their three girls in Huntington Beach, California. They also lived in Durango, Colorado for three years. Finally settling in Mesquite, Nevada in 2003. William enjoyed hunting and was an avid reader and enjoyed his many detective shows on TV. William is survived by his three daughters, Sandra Monnier, Anita Waggoner and JoEllen Schaffer. He leaves six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
