Walter Edward Martin "Red", age 82 , passed away Saturday, May 23 , 2009 at his home in Beaver Dam, Arizona. He was born in Eaton, Colorado, on April 25, 1927 to Fred and Katherine Foos Martin. He married Shirley Anne Mulholland in Cody, Wyoming on June 8, 1956.

Walter came from a large family of 11 children, so family was very important to him. He grew up in Colorado and Wheatland Wyoming where he worked on the family farm. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church. Together Walter and Shirley raised their family in Cody, Wyoming.

Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and building things with his hands. In his young years Walter was a hunting guide. He loved spending time in Alaska with his son fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He loved all kids and animals. Everyone knew him as a jokester and he had the ability to make friends on a dime. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, Eagles, and VFW.

Walter is survived by his wife Shirley Martin, his children; Bryan (Kelli Carlton) Martin, Rhonda (Mike) Vertner, Walter L. (Mary Copple) Martin, grandchildren Trisha, Dawn, Callie, Taylor, John Ryan, Devon, and Molly, his siblings Fred Martin, Mollie Shepherd, Katherine Lambert, Robert Martin, and Ruth Medina. He is preceded in death by his siblings Annie Snyder, Lydia Kissel, Lorraine Lauck, Bertha Kissel, and Howard Martin, and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

A Celebration of his life will be held July 1st, at 1:00 PM at the Eagles Club in Cody Wyoming. The family request any donations be sent to Virgin Valley Home Health and Hospice in Mesquite, Nevada at 355 W Mesquite Blvd Suite B-50 Mesquite, Nevada 89027.
