Walter "Buck" James Cross
March 6, 1947 — January 31, 2014
Walter James Cross, 66, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at his residence after an eighteen month battle with brain cancer. He was born March 6, 1947 in Plattsburg, New York to Austin and Shirley Cross. He married Theresa L Ahrens on April 28, 2005 in Mesquite, Nevada.
Buck treasured the memories of his childhood summers spent at Lake Champlain with his family and cousins. After graduating high school he attended the Southern Connecticut State University for four years. He retired in 2006 after 30 years of being a manager at the Anheuser Busch brewery plant. Buck loved to entertain people, cooking and baking. He enjoyed traveling, watching sports, shooting, sporting clays, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Theresa L. Cross of Mesquite, NV; brother, Stephen (Jane Ann) Cross of Bethlehem, CT; sister, Cindy (Carl) Herb of Naugatuck, CT; nieces, Casey Jo (Douglas) Anctil, Jamie (Brian) DeRosa, and Caitlin Cross; and nephew, Christian (Lisa) Herb. He is preceded in death by his father Austin Cross.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Naugatuck United Methodist Church on Meadow Street.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to St. Jude Hospital.
