Mesquite, Nevada - VIDA HUGHES CURRY, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the home where she was born and where she was married in Mesquite. She was born April 22, 1922 to Charles Arthur and Orilla Luella Leavitt Hughes and married Edd Houston Curry in front of the home's beautiful fireplace on August 26, 1944.

Vida's childhood years were spent in Mesquite with her siblings and numerous cousins and relatives. She was the even-dozen #12, and the sole survivor of the "Hughes Family Original Thirteen." She graduated from Virgin Valley High School in 1940 and has remained in contact with classmates throughout the years. Her married years were spent in North Las Vegas; after retirement she returned to Mesquite and remodeled the old Hughes Family home and lived there the remainder of her life. Vida focused her life on devotion to family, service to others and a commitment to live the Savior's teachings. She was dedicated to the LDS Church and held many callings.

Vida's family wishes to thank all who have provided support and comfort at this time. We especially want to acknowledge and convey our deepest gratitude to her grandson, Eddie, for his many years of loving, caring support given to Grandma Curry.
