Verl Parker Roundy, age 82, passed away peacefully Friday, September 26, 2014, surrounded by family in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born April 8, 1932 in Murray, Utah to Otho and Verna Olive Fitzgerald Roundy. He married Dawn Corbett in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 8, 1962.
Verl grew up in Draper and Provo, Utah and Palmyra, New York. He served in the U.S. Army and an LDS mission in Samoa. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University followed by his Master's Degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. He had a meaningful 31-year teaching career with the Clark County School District. He raised his family of six, which brought hime his greatest joy, in Las Vegas. He loved traveling, boating, gardening and serving in his church.
Survivors include his sweetheart, Dawn; three sons and three daughters: Larraine (Peter) Claudio; Kevin (Jill); Douglas (Lisa); Paul (Kim); Allyson (Tim) Adams; Heather (Aaron) Walker all of Las Vegas, NV; 29 grandchildren; a sister, Golda (Vernon) Greenland of Orem, UT and one brother, Elmo (Myrle) of Provo, UT. He was preceded in death by one brother and his wife, Killmer and Phyllis.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel,6100 Alta Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada. Visitation will be from 9 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. (Utah Time) at the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George, Utah.
