Venetta Cooper

February 9, 1930 — August 6, 2016

Our wonderful mother, Venetta M. Cooper, was reunited with her loving husband Bill on Saturday, August 6, 2016. She was born February 9, 1930 in Mapleton, Utah to Spencer and Alga E. Harmer Mackley.

She was a woman of many talents. She was a 1st grade teacher at Grant M. Bowler Elementary for over 20 years and enjoyed teaching young children to read and write. She was able to include three of her grandchildren as her students. They have fond memories of having grandma as their teacher. She was an artist. She painted beautifully and has many paintings in homes throughout the valley and was a member of the Moapa Valley Art Guild for many years. She loved to sew. She sewed her children's clothes while they were growing up and even sewed two of her daughter's wedding dresses. She sewed many humanitarian kits for the Logandale 1st Ward. She was an avid quilter and made quilts for family, friends and ward members. She always had "one in the works". She was a world traveler and lived in Japan for 2 years as a secretary for the army after WWII. She loved traveling with her husband in their retirement, going to Europe, Mexico & the Holy Land as well as driving from one end of the United States to the other. She loved to bake and made the best bread & pies! She loved to garden and had beautiful flowers in her yard as well as a large vegetable garden that they shared with their neighbors and friends.

She was married to her sweetheart William Heber Johnson Cooper on December 19, 1958 in the Salt Lake City Temple for Time and All Eternity. She is survived by her children Collett Phillipenas of Logandale, NV: Matthew W. (DeeDee)Cooper, Mesquite, TX: Mendy Ann (Richard)Tanner, Newport News, VA: Ronald D. (Angie)Cooper, Henderson, NV: son-in-law Lyle Jones of Overton, NV: 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and her sister Yvonne Alred, Salt Lake City, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband William Cooper; daughter Nancy Jones; 2 brothers and 1 sister.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She has endured till the end and has shown us how to be quietly strong. Rest if you must, but don't you quit!

Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Logandale 1st Ward Chapel.
