Valine Marie Adkins, age 79, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 in St. George, Utah. She was born December 13, 1929 in Pocatello, Idaho to Maurice Cannon and Afton Elizabeth Palmer Fullmer. On December 28, 1948 she married Elmor James "Jim" Adkins in Pocatello, Idaho.

Valine grew up in Pocatello. As a young woman she worked as a legal secretary. She also was a gifted operatic lyric soprano singer. After meeting Jim, they were married, they raised their family through out the United States as they moved with Jim's military career. They settled in Lancaster, California in 1955 and later moved to Logandale, Nevada in 1994. She was an active member of the LDS Church, and enjoyed genealogy. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, sewing, needlework and cooking. She was a dedicated mother and wife.

Survivors include her husband, Jim of Logandale, one son and three daughters: Jeanne Ellyn Marlow of Huntsville, AL; Michelle Marie Fogel of Ocenaside, CA; Barbara Hollye Holmquist of Lancaster, CA; James Justus Adkins of Battlement Mesa, CO; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 9 a.m. at the Logandale 6th Ward LDS Chapel. Arrangements under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
