Valerie Kay Jensen, 67, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, UT, after a valiant fight with Diabetes. She was born on August 26, 1950 in Las Vegas, NV. She was the first born to Nephi and Arlene Thurston Jensen.
Her early childhood years were spent in Las Vegas, NV. Her family returned to Mesquite, NV where she has lived ever since. She attended Virgin Valley High School and graduated in 1968. She attended Southern Utah State College, which is now Southern Utah University, in Cedar City, UT but the Virgin Valley always called her back home.
To those who knew her she was Val, and to many she was “Aunt Val”. She worked as office manager to the principals of Virgin Valley Schools, for 32 years and retired in 2008. She enjoyed sharing her love of nature with anyone who would go with her, to Cedar Mountain, or girls camp. Her life revolved around her family and mostly the children. Though she never bore children, she was a mother to many. After her marriages to Gary Biasi and Sid Huerta ended, her relationships with their children never did. Her influence in their lives continued (until her last day). Her home was open to all. Nieces and nephews had a special place in her heart and she encouraged all to do their very best. She served to her very best ability in her many church callings in the LDS church.
She is survived by her mother; Arlene Jensen, Mesquite, brothers; Bruce (Pam), Sunnyside Ranch, NV, Theron (Chris) and Kevin (Tina), both of Mesquite, NV. She is preceded in death by her father; Nephi Jensen and brother, Shane Jensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing on Friday, May 18, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and again, Saturday morning at 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., located in the Whipple Chapel, 121 Whipple Way, Mesquite, NV. Interment will be held at the Mesquite City Cemetery.
