Thomas Donald Overy, 83, passed away Friday October 26, 2012 at the Highland Manor in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born November 11, 1928 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Thomas Overy, Jr. and Hanna Axelina Johnson. He married Wanda Jean Sharpley July 17, 1954 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was raised in Rock Springs and Stansbury Wyoming. He graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1946, then continued his education by graduating from the University of Wyoming in 1950 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While attending the University of Wyoming he enrolled in the ROTC and played in the University band. He served in the United States Air Force in the top security and intelligence division, which gave him the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States and Europe. After touring in Germany, he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command (SAC) in South Carolina. He later was employed by General Electric Co. In their New York office with the aero space program. Upon retiring with General Electric he took a position with Hughes Aircraft Co. in California as a department manager in the shuttle space program in the test and launch operations of space crafts to be launched from the eastern launch site at Cape Canaveral. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. He is survived by a brother, Ronald Ray Overy (Janice) of Rock Springs WY; Sister-in-law, Verlina Christianson Overy; three nieces, Raelyne Overy, Michel of Leland, NC, Janette Barker (Kenneth) of N. Ogen, UT; two nephews, R. Scott Overy (Melanie) of Tooele, UT, Marc Richard Overy (Tracey) of Sandy, UT; seven great nieces; nine great nephews; one great great nephew; one cousin. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda of 58 years; brother, Richard Axel Overy; nephew James Thomas Overy. Honoring Thomas' wishes, cremation will take place with no funeral services. His cremains will be interred in Rock Springs, WY. At a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Virgin Valley Mortuary, Mesquite, NV. There are no services planned at this time.
