Thomas "Thom" Hutchinson

September 16, 1948 — October 30, 2013

Thomas Martin Hutchinson, age 65, left this world peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, after a long valiant battle with a terminal illness. He was born September 16, 1948 in Hollywood, CA to Ernest Delbert and Helen Rita Cragg Hutchinson. On January 28, 1989 he married the love of his life, Estaline "Esti" Ann Kuest in Las Vegas, NV. He moved to Las Vegas when he was age two, and lived in Nevada most of his life. He was drafted into the Army and served in the Vietnam Conflict. After a short stint at UNLV, he graduated from Dealer's School and worked in the casino business for 25 years. Thom and Esti moved to Logandale in 1997. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 8336 Moapa Valley. Before he became ill, he loved to travel all over Nevada, he especially loved the small, funky out of the way places where he worked in his youth. He enjoyed gardening and entering his flowers in the Clark County Fair every year, where he won many Best of Class and Champion ribbons that he was so proud of. He was an avid history buff who loved animals and collected casino memorabilia and comic books. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, storytelling, kindness and charm. He is survived by his wife, Esti of Logandale, NV; son, Erik of N. Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren: Petty Officer 2nd Class US Navy, Justin (Brittney), Derrick, Dakota; one great granddaughter, Saniya; one brother, Michael (Merry) of Atlanta, GA and his four-legged, furry princess, Lucy. A celebration of life in honor of Thom will be held at a later time.
