Thomas Francis Aiani Jr., age 89, died peaceably Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born September 19, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas Francis Aiani Sr. and Rose Larocco. In 1948 he married Eleanor Fahey. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1979. Thomas was raised in Chicago, and graduated from St. Ambrose College. As part of what has been called "The Greatest Generation", he served in the Army as a decorated Infantry Lieutenant in the European Theater & the Battle of the Bulge during World War II where he met his wife, Eleanor (she was also an Army Officer - RN, Bronze Star), in Europe during the war. The story of how they met is one he loved to tell. Thomas was a salesman in the flooring industry. He spent most of his career pioneering European ceramic tile in the United States. He was also an avid golfer, loved eating ravioli, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived two sons and one daughter; Gregory (Candace) of Taipei, Taiwan; Jeffrey (Linda) of Itasca, Illinois; and Deborah (Michael) Greco of Overton, Nevada; One granddaughter; Chloe of Boston, MA. A funeral mass will be held in his honor in Overton, Nevada.
