Theodore Rimpau

Theodore (Ted) B. Rimpau, 83, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born January 21, 1925 in Hollywood, California to Helen Burntrager and Edward L. Rimpau. He attended Hollywood High School and after graduation, entered WWII. Ted served his enlistment in the European Theater, 558th Field Artillery in four campaigns. After his discharge, he attended Oregon State University in Corvalis, Oregon and graduated in 1949. While at OSU, he met Patricia Alexander. They married on August 17, 1947. He completed some graduate work at Calpoly in San Louis Obispo then moved to Riverside, CA. In 1955 they moved to Milford, Utah where he farmed for 42 years. After retirement in 1998, they moved to Mesquite, Nevada.

Ted loved his farm in Milford and enjoyed raising his sheep and growing alfalfa. During this period he served as an officer of the Twin M Soil Conservation district. He enjoyed participating in service organizations and was an active member of the Delta Chi fraternity, Elks (61 years), IOOF, American Legion (64 years), and VFW. He felt a particular pride for his service in the military, and while a member of the VFW, Ted held many positions and campaigned vigorously in southern Utah for membership registration of local military servicemen. He was a delegate to the VFW national convention several times, and during the period of 1997-98, served as District Commander for the VFW All American Team.

Ted is survived by his wife, Patricia, son Dr. James B. (Sydney) Rimpau and grandson Benjamin, all of Bozeman, MT, brother Edward L. (Jean) Rimpau, Jr. of Newport Beach, CA, and several nephews and nieces.
