Iola Sue Tanner, age 79, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born September 2, 1944 in Las Vegas to Richard Fay and Iola Prisbrey Perkins. On February 14, 1976 she married Stephen Richard Tanner in Overton, Nevada. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2014.
Sue lived most of her life in Overton. She worked as a waitress at the Lost City Café, as a clerk at Perkins Market, as a babysitter and after earning her beautician’s license, as a hairdresser. She enjoyed making and painting ceramics, riding horses and sharing her thoughts and opinions. She had a strong personality and a genuine goodness. After the tragic death of her daughter, she became an advocate for STOP DUI.
Survivors include her three sons: Richard (Mendy) of Elizabeth City, NC; Donald of Salt Lake City, UT; Trinity (Sheila) of Overton; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Idonna and Brandi and one brother, Sparky.
Memorial services will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Overton Chapel, 226 W. Thomas Street, Overton, Nevada. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
