Sonnie Lynn Roberts, age 79, passed away at his home in Mesquite, Nevada on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. He was born August 22, 1935 in Milford, Utah to Lynn Julian and Albateen Myers Roberts. On June 18, 1966 he married his true love Corrine Winston at the Fort Douglas Chapel in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sonnie grew up in Minersville, Utah. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge he began a 35 year career with Hercules Inc. during which he worked and lived in Utah, Washington, and South Carolina. In 1986 he was appointed as Hercules Representative Manager for the United Kingdom and spent 3 years in Scotland. He retired to Mesquite, Nevada in 1995. His favorite place in the world was Roberts’ Deer Camp. We will remember him for his kindness, humility, and deep love of family.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Corrine; two daughters and one son: Cindy (Kent) Vincent of St. George, UT; Michael (Kari) of Cottonwood Heights, UT; Michelle (Adrian) Reed of Hobe Sound, FL; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Mesquite LDS 6th Ward Whipple Chapel, 121 Whipple Way, Mesquite, NV. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Mesquite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mesquite Veterans Center or Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, rmef.org.
