Shelley Jeanne Lonetti

June 30, 1965 — August 7, 2021

Riverside

Shelley Jeanne Lonetti passed peacefully away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at her home surrounded by family and loved ones.  She was 56 years old.

She was born to John and Eunes (Bell) Lonetti on June 30, 1965 at the Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital in Las Vegas Nevada.  Her grandparents were John and Anna (Scapella) Lonetti and John and Jean (Scavanda) Bell.

Shelley spent her childhood in Las Vegas, Nevada gaining her independent spirit at an early age.  She attended the Las Vegas public schools, and was among the first ‘Special Needs’ children to be bused.  Her bus driver always watched until she was safely in her home, after which she would call her mother and advise here that she was home and the door was locked.  This independence and love and trust of others carried her well throughout her life.

After graduation from Edward M. Clark County High School in 1985, Shelley worked for Western Supply Import and Export Company.  She remained there until relocating with her parents to a farm near Mesquite, Nevada.

Life on the farm was perfect for Shelley.  She had many friends at the farm that loved to go riding with her on horse.  She loved her horse, Nutmeg, and her companion, Sim, a special German Shepard; they were a constant at the arenas.  She also loved to ride around the farm on her golf cart, “Fringe on Top” and would visit as many of her friends as she could and explore all the wide open space. Many of her barn friends would include her in pizza and dance nights at Play Offs or the Casa Blanca.  She also loved to go bowling, which was a once a week activity.

Shelley loved science fiction and had a hobby of collecting a vast selection of VHS tapes and DVS’s of Star Trek.  She was a true Trekkie and attended many conventions where a true Trekkie was referred to as “The Committee”.

Shelley loved birthday parties and massages with her special friends, they were “best of best” in her mind.  Her smiles and her laughter were very contagious and her friends loved to be around her.  A few of her, Meadowland Farm’s great friends were, Aurela Cervantes, Silvia Castro, Virginia Garcia, Evelyn Nunez, Manuel Melchor, Shem Teerlink, Manuel Colima, Octavio Melchor and the entire rest of the, ‘Farm Family’.

When Shelley attended horse shows with her father, she had a list of, “clients with dogs” that she would have them sign up for walking their dogs each morning at a specified time.

Shelley worked for, ‘The Ranch Market’ until they closed.  She was then offered to work with, ‘Smith’s Food and Drug’.  They explained, she was good for them because many of the, ‘Ranch Market’ customers enjoyed seeing her bagging the groceries or stocking the shelves.  She loved her job and the customers loved to be around her.

Living relatives include her Father and Mother, John and Judith ‘Ewing’ Lonetti; Uncle, Charles Lonetti and his two daughters, Cindy Lonetti Butler and Melana Lonetti; Aunt Debora Lonetti, and her two son, Darren Kimery, and Dariek Kimrey, all of Las Vegas, Nevada; Uncle Joe (deceased) and wife Peaches, and children, Puanani, Aloha, and Anela, all of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces, nephews and cousins across the country.

Shelley’s North Carolina family are; James B. and Nicole Ewing Meanor, and their children Caitlyn and JB III; Thad and Bobby ‘Ewing’ Sharrett, and their son’s Austin, William and Davis.

In addition to Shelley’s family are; Mildred Cunningham, Vickey Aaroba, and Gina Morgan which have been devoted longtime caregivers and devoted friends of Shelley.

A Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 21st at the LaVirgen De Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mesquite, Nevada at 401 Canyon Crest Boulevard.  The family invites you to leave a memory or message on their Guestbook at virginvalleymortuary.com.
