Shelby John Williams, age 79, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born September 19, 1932 in Idalou, Texas to Clyde and Audrey Leo Jones Williams. On June 21, 1971, he married Alice Mabel Kellar Scacco in Overton, Nevada. He grew up in Southern California, graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1950 and entered the US Air Force in 1952. He later moved to Las Vegas, then for a time he lived in Moapa Valley while opening and working at the Reid Gardner Power Plant as a Superintendent. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed serving in the temple. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father and husband. Survivors include his wife, Alice of Las Vegas, NV; son, James "Jim" Williams of Logandale, NV; stepchildren: Paul Shaw of Las Vegas, NV; Gary (Jennene) Scacco of Overton, NV; Jennean Scacco of Las Vegas, NV; Tony Scacco of Overton, NV; daughter in law, Debbie Scacco of Logandale, grandson Matthew Williams; eleven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one sister, Doris Ore of Huntington Beach, CA. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Chapel Heights Ward, 1825 N. Hollywood, Las Vegas, Nevada. Visitation will be Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary, 5090 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., Logandale, NV and again from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow at 1:20 p.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702 398-3600.
