Sandra Raye Bushhead was born on November 5, 1953 to the (late) Gilbert and Thalia Rice Bushhead. She passed away in Las Vegas on May 18, 2014 with a lot of her loved ones present.
She attended Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, California. She worked at the Moapa Band of Paiutes Senior Center as a cook. She loved traveling and doing various different projects with her seniors such as doing crafts, language class & traveling to different Powwows to different places. She also lived and worked in Kaibab, AZ for some years. While living there, she worked at their Mobile store and for their Social Service Dept. for the Kaibab Paiute Tribe. She moved back home and worked at the Irene Benn Clinic as a Receptionist and at the Moapa Tribal Store as a Clerk.
She loved her family very much. She was the #1 Fry Bread Queen. She was an Advocate for the people whom spoke up at various different Tribal meetings.
She is survived by her children: Noel (Janine) Tom, Shanna (Scott) Hardy, Shane Tom, and Rebecca Tom- GrassRope. Her Grandchildren: Tha'lia and Amaya Lee, Nannabah, Atiana and Zia Tom. Her sister/brothers: Janet Bushhead, Dudley and Elliott Bushhead. She was loved very much by many from all over she will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Moapa LDS Chapel. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the chapel. Following the church services, a Traditional Indian Sing will take place at the Moapa Tribal Building in Moapa, Nevada. Interment will be in the Moapa Indian Cemetery Sunday morning at dawn.
