RUTH E. LINTER

Ruth Evangeline (Hall) Linter passed away in her sleep on Friday, March 5th, 2010. She was born in Paton, Iowa on October 25, 1911, to Fredrick and Marie Hall and had two sisters and one brother, all of whom preceded her in death. She was married to Clarence Eugene Linter, who preceded her in death in 1994. She was the mother of two boys, Wayne who lives in Baltimore, Md. and Hall, who preceded her in death in 1990. She has one daughter, Patricia who lives in Beaver Dam, Az. She had one grandson and three granddaughters and five great grandchildren. One granddaughter preceded her in death.

Ruth was raised in a rural community and liked to tell people that at the age of ten, she drove her father's Ford seven miles each way to school every day. She had to crank it until her father got an electric starter. She was always a very independent and modern woman. She tried her hand at working for newspapers, nursing in a psychiatric hospital, owned and operated a newspaper, and wrote a column for the Ventura Star Free Press for years called "Granny Greenthumb." Her favorite endeavor was real estate. She became a broker and bought and sold real estate for herself as well as others. She was a "bookaholic" who read constantly. Her wishes were that she be cremated and the ashes taken back to Iowa to the cemetery where her husband and son are interred. She did not want a funeral or any ceremony, and we will honor her wishes.
