Ruth Doxey

Marion Ruth Doxey, age 71, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born August 4, 1939 in Salmon, Idaho to Marion Montrose and Alta Ursula Radmall Pontius. On August 9, 1957 she married Steve Emersen Stephens in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children and were later divorced. On March 1, 1968 she married Gordon Clark Doxey in Hooper, UT. On April 9, 1969 they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Ruth grew up in Salmon, Idaho until she was eleven, when her family moved to Ogden, Utah where she lived and raised her family. In 2000, she retired with Gordon to Logandale, Nevada. She was a devoted wife and mother. She spent her time and energy serving in the LDS church doing humanitarian projects and genealogy. She will be remembered for the love and kindness she shared with her family and others. Survivors include her husband, Gordon of Logandale, NV; four sons and six daughters: Rick Stephens of Clearfield, UT; Amy (Mark) Horton of Coeur d'lane, ID; Sherry (Pat) Burke of Saratoga Springs, UT; Diantha (Frank) Matheson of Roy, UT; Gordon Jr. (Debbie) Doxey of Clearfield, UT; Connie Stephens of Logandale, NV; Melodie (Joe) Ptacek of Ogden, UT; Michael (Helen) Stephens of Spanish Fork, UT; LaNae (Jason) Barnum of Logandale, NV; James (Jamie) Doxey of Ogden, UT; 28 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren with three in the hangar; two brothers and one sister: Veda (Eldon) Stokes of Salmon, ID; Karl (Marlene) Pontius of Kooskia, ID and Eugene (Beverly) Pontius of Quinell, Canada. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Primary Children's Hospital, PO Box 58249, Salt Lake City, UT 84158-0249. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Logandale LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 6 - 8 p.m. and again Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services, both at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Logandale Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
