Russell Samson

Russell David Samson passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2012. He was born January 16, 1949 to the late Warren Bushhead and the late Christina Samson Meyers, raised by the late Herbert Ward Meyers. Russell lived most of his life on Moapa Paiute Indian Reservation. He served on the Moapa Tribal Council, Indian Education and the health board. Russell attended Stewart Indian School and Moapa Valley High School. He dearly loved his family and friends. He had a kind heart. Russell loved helping his family and friends. At Christmas time he sent gifts to his loved ones. Russell's favorite football team was the San Francisco 49ers. He will be greatly missed by brothers; Randy Meyers, Calvin Meyers; niece; Jennifer Samson all of Moapa; nephew Morris Samson Jr. of Peach Springs, AZ; and may cousins, friends and his dog Bob. He was preceded in death by both parents, step father Herbert Meyers, brothers; Darwin Samson, Rupert Meyers, Merton Jack Meyers and sister Lori Hylton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Moapa Tribal Building. A Traditional Indian Sing will follow. Interment will be at the Moapa Indian Cemetery Sunday morning at 6:00 a.m.
