Hudson, Wyoming - Ruby Mae Bartholomew, 86, passed away Thursday September 6th in Mesquite Nevada. She was born September 4th 1926 in a coal mining camp near Oak Creek, Colorado. She graduated from high school in Fredrick, Colorado in 1944 and from the Colorado State College of Education now known as the University of Northern Colorado in 1957.
In 1948 she married Richard Bartholomew. She was a teacher for 11 years in Colorado, before moving to Encampment, Wyoming where she taught an additional two years. In 1961 she moved to Hudson where she taught and was principal for the Hudson School District for 25 years retiring in 1986. She was a supporter of education having served on the Lander School Board and Board of BOCES. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Ruby was a dedicated Denver Bronco's fan, an avid hunter, and enjoyed camping and fishing at Louis Lake. She loved and cared deeply for all animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Bartholomew, father and mother Andrew and Frances Ferguson, and her brother Marion Ferguson. She is survived by her nieces Shelley Armour, of Palm Desert California, Barbara Norte, of San Diego, Ca. and nephews Ronald Ferguson, of Littleton, Colorado, Robert Ferguson of Kissemee, Florida, and Marion Ferguson of Thousand Palms, Ca. Ruby also is survived by her self- proclaimed family Dale and Ed Graham, of Lander, grandchildren Jonathan Graham of Lincoln, Nebraska, Diana Graham and great grand- child Arleigh Cain of Spearfish, South Dakota.
Memorial services will be held at the Hudson Town Hall on Saturday, September 15th at 10: 30 with interment to follow at the Hudson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lander Pet Connection, or the Animal Shelter in Riverton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E. Old Mill Road, Mesquite, NV.
