Roy William Pinkerton

February 9, 1936 — January 24, 2021

Overton, NV

Roy William Pinkerton, 84, passed away on January 24, 2021 in Overton, NV. Roy was born on February 9, 1936 in Tarentum, PA to Dwight William and Aline Margaret Riggle Pinkerton. Roy’s father drove buses cross-country, so Roy traveled all over the United States. Roy became very involved in the YMCA, and taught kids how to swim, took them on hikes and field trips, and attended many of the dances. This is where he met Nancy Elaine Kalmeyer, and they knew they were meant to be together. They were married on December 21, 1954 and raised four children together. A week after graduating from high school, Roy joined the U.S. Air Force. He served for twenty-three years. He worked maintenance on the jet engines, and trained others for many years. He was involved in the Bay of Pigs and was a critical member in moving the 509th BMW from New Mexico to Pease Air Force Base. He was the 1st Sergeant of the 18th TAC Wing in Okinawa, Japan. His family moved with him wherever he was stationed.

Roy loved to teach, and fondly remembered his time teaching Golf at the Idaho State University for three years. He was an expert fly-fisherman, building his own rods and tying his flies. He enjoyed duck hunting with his granddaughter. He was an avid reader, and a sports nut, following Steeler’s football, boxing, PBR, and NASCAR. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Roy is survived by his wife, Nancy E. Pinkerton; his children, Roy William Jr. (Marla) Pinkerton, Katherine Elaine (Randy) Smith, Terri Leigh (Timothy) Armour, and Ronald Brian Pinkerton; his seven grandchildren; his twelve great-grandchildren with one on the way; his two brothers, Lee Dwight (Val) Pinkerton and Donald Richard (Mickey) Pinkerton, and many nieces and nephews.. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their Guest Book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
