Roger Page McClure, 86, passed away on January 13, 2025 in Overton, NV. Roger was born in St. Paul, Nebraska on November 5, 1938 to Ralph Arthur McClure and Valda Flo Page. He loved being out in the forests and mountains. He learned to hunt and fish at a young age, and spent many of his days being outside. Roger graduated from St. Paul high school in St. Paul, NE. in 1956. After he graduated high school, he spent the summer in Missoula, Montana training to be a Smoke Jumper. Roger studied Forestry at Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, NE. He left school to join the United States Army, and was assigned as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, KY. He served honorably for six years. He met and married Shannon Remington, and they had three children together. He was a State Park Ranger and became the Park Superintendent at Nebraska Chadron State Park at the age of 31. He was recognized many times for the Mountain Man competitions there. He and Shannon then moved to Montana where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Golden Sunlight Mine near Whitehall, MT. He took an early retirement due to his fight with Pancreatic Cancer. As he went into remission, he and Shannon started snowbirding in Overton, NV. Shannon passed away in 2013. Roger was a faithful member of the Calvary Community Church, and here, he met Charline LaVerne Clowes. They were married in Overton, NV on May 19, 2014. He and Charley had many wonderful memories together in their Overton community. They were teased because Roger was a snowbird and Charley was a sunbird.
Roger loved collecting guns and loved black powder shooting. He and Charley would go on many off-roading trips on the many trails in Moapa Valley. He had a booming laugh and a large presence. He loved his children and stepchildren, and he adored all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He valued his family and did his best in melding such a large family. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and strived to be like Him. He strived to be forgiving and kind and to let go of grudges.
Roger is survived by his wife, Charley McClure; his children, Kristy (Lyle) Lavoie, Marlys (Joe) Michols, and Roger Page “Smokey” (Leilani) McClure; his stepchildren, Crystal (Ron) Rough, Amber (Chester) Waybright, Jason (Jenny) Maas, and Cein (Andy) Caldwell; his twenty grandchildren; his twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Larry McClure.
