Rodney Laine Jensen

August 1, 1964 — November 17, 2014

Rodney Laine Jensen, age 50, passed away November 17, 2014 in a tragic car accident in Las Vegas, Nevada on his way to work. He was born August 1, 1964 in St. George Utah to Melburn and Leah Bundy Jensen.

He grew up in Mesquite, NV alongside 8 brothers and 1 sister. He participated in many sports activities where he excelled in football, wrestling, & baseball. He played on the state championship football and baseball teams and was a state champion wrestler for Virgin Valley High School where he graduated in 1983.

Rod married Carol Turley in 1987 they had two children, Cabe Arvie Jensen and Tanya Reese. Rod was extremely proud of his children and supported them in everything they did. Rod and Carol later divorced but remained good friends. Rod also has a son Wesley who lives in Spring City, Texas.

Rod was well respected in the construction community as an excellent blade hand. Rod had a love for all things guns. He couldn’t walk past a gun store or pawn shop without walking in and usually coming out with a gun or two or three!

Rod will be remembered by his children and their friends for his contagious laugh while watching movies. He would laugh so loud the kids would be embarrassed until the whole theater started laughing with him. And it was especially funny when he laughed and nobody else was laughing.

Rod was a favorite uncle and was loved by all his great nieces and nephews although he was always threatening to put a boot in their butts. Rod had a special relationship with Cabe and Tanya’s other siblings, he drove to Southern Utah many times to watch them play ball or wrestle.

Rod took great pride in his two grandchildren Jaxton Russell Jensen and Oaklynn Jill Jensen. Jaxton was threatened with the old “boot in the butt”, but Papa “J” never followed through with it. His Children and Grandchildren brought Rod his greatest joy in life.
Rodney is Survived by his children Cabe Arvie Jensen (Josi), Tanya Reese (Ryan), and Wesley. His grandchildren Jaxton Russell Jensen and Oaklynn Jill Jensen.
