Roberta Joan Van Lant

Roberta Joan Van Lant age 79, passed away on January 14, 2010 at her home in Mesquite, Nevada. Roberta was born October 28, 1931 in Los Angeles, California to Robert Bruce Campbell and Myrtle Grace Haskins.

Roberta graduated from John C. Freemont High School in 1949. Upon graduation she worked for Pacific Tel and Tel. She married Alfred Sauers in 1951 and had two children Marilyn and John. Alf passed away in 1965. Roberta went to work for Bank of America and Wells Fargo. In 1971 she met Wally and they were married in 1973 at New Life Community Church in Artesia, California. In 1977 they moved to Richfield, Utah. Roberta worked for Zions Bank and retired after 16 years of service. They were members of the Presbyterian Church where Roberta served as treasure for many years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, serving as an officer and on many committees. She received the Order of the Rose in 1995. In Utah she enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with their friends Betty and Jack Hicks also taking several vacations with them. Roberta keep in touch with her life long friend Barbara Rose Blood over the years, attending high school reunions with her and taking trips to the Great Lakes in 2007. They have also made plans for an Alaska cruise in 2009.

She is survived by her husband, Wallace Van Lant of Mesquite, Nevada, a son, John Sauers of Mesquite, Nevada, a three grandchildren Lori (Scott) Rickenbach, Erik (Tani) Sauers, Steven Sauers, six great grandchildren, and a brother Bob Campbell. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Joseph Sauers, a daughter Marilyn Jean Sauers Sybesma, and a brother Paul James.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Mesquite Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, January 18, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Virgin Valley Mortuary.
