Robert Loya, 73, passed away on March 27, 2017 in Mesquite, NV. He was born on March 14, 1944 in Elizabeth, NJ to Frank Loya and Rose Hoefling. Robert married Patricia Marino on September 14, 1963 in Philadelphia, PA, and after her passing on June 3, 2012, married Bonnie Hutchins on February 15, 2014 in Mesquite, NV.
Robert was proud of his service with the U.S. Navy and as a Police Officer in Philadelphia. He retired as a Lieutenant after twenty-six years of service. Those years on the force spurred his love of cop shows and the sharing of stories with his family and friends. Robert was well educated and graduated from Penn State with Honors. Robert loved spending family time with Bonnie, her children and grandkids.
Robert is survived by his wife Bonnie Vincent Loya, his son Robert B. (Chris) Loya, three stepsons, two stepdaughters, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, his two sisters; Ramona Howansky and Lynn Blake, and Aunt Helen. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Marino Loya, one stepson, and his parents, Frank and Rose.
Catholic Mass services will be held for Robert Loya at La Virgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mesquite, NV on April 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Graveside services following on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 8:40 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV.
