Bob Ellsworth

Robert Cooper Ellsworth, age 82, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at his Las Vegas home. He was born January 17, 1938 in Mesa, Arizona to Donald and Margaret B. Cooper Ellsworth.

Bob (Bobby) grew up in Queen Creek, Arizona and graduated from Chandler High in 1955. On September 6, 1956 he married his high school sweetheart, Judith Carol Gray, in the Mesa LDS Temple. While working for the family farm and ranch business, Bob and Judy raised their family in Queen Creek. Always faithful to his LDS faith, Bob served as a member of multiple bishoprics and stake high councils. He also served on the Queen Creek school board.

Bob and Judy lived and served in other Arizona communities including Mesa, Young, Show Low, and St. Johns. For a time, Bob and Judy lived in White Oak (Longview), Texas, where he bought and operated a smokehouse business. While in East Texas, Bob served as a bishop and as a member of a stake presidency.

Later in life, Bob and Judy moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. From there, they served a mission to the South Dakota Rapid City Mission. After returning to Las Vegas from their mission, Bob began consulting in Delta, Utah for Corey Brothers’ feedlot operation. His love for farming, ranching, and working horses stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting and improving things around him. Bob’s greatest gifts were his smile, his kindness and his love of others.

Survivors include his wife Judy of Las Vegas, Nevada; four sons: Kent (Melanie Beaird) of Ingram, Texas; Merit (Jackie Rainwater) of Queen Creek, Arizona; Keen (Sunny Bennion) of Toquerville, Utah; Dain (Lisa Morgan) of Las Vegas, Nevada; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three sisters: Carolyn Schnepf of Mesa, Arizona; Margaret Schnepf of Queen Creek, Arizona and Juna Griffiths of Draper, Utah. He was preceded in death by daughter, Dawn; son, Gray; and brother, Delos.
