Robert Allen Deihl, age 85, passed away in his home on October 12, 2021 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born November 23, 1935, in Elgin, Illinois to Elmer Frank and Lois Waterman Deihl. He married Janet Joy Kinerk in Fort Wayne, Indiana on November 4 1962.
Throughout his life he lived in Elgin, Indiana, Fort Wayne, Indiana and then he and his family moved to Spring Creek, Nevada. His final days were spent in Mesquite, Nevada.
Robert’s mother ensured that he know how to play the piano which instilled a love for music that lasted throughout his lifetime. He played the piano or organ at any church he was involved with and also wrote music. Robert was also quite artistic and would sketch out designs he thought up or even the silly cartoon here and there. Known to have a sense of humor, Robert ‘Bob’ made up silly games to play with his siblings, and later, his children.
Bob Served in the Army in the late ‘50's. While serving stateside, he was severely wounded and medically discharged. From there he worked for various companies, including Magnavox then Phillips for over 10 years, mainly doing electronic repairs, until he moved to Spring Creek where he started his own business, Elko Discount Satellite.
Some of the many adventures that Bob was involved with were becoming a scuba diver and helping with a home-built submarine, owning a couple of MGA-B sports cars and a Corvette, having a family (later adding to it by adopting), getting his pilot’s license and an airplane, was a Toastmaster, building a house, working with horses, belonging to the Single Action Shooting Society, and far more hijinks than would fit on this page.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Deihl; son, Garry Deihl; two daughters, Stephanie Dobiss and Lauren Eagle-Deihl; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles ‘Bud’ Deihl; and two sisters, Janet Blain and Margaret Waite.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and his sister Patricia Deihl.
