Robert Allen Chaney, 81, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born July 26, 1928 in Henderson, Kentucky to Robert and Alice Scales Chaney. He married Dinah Cooper on December 31, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Robert moved from Salt Lake City, Utah to Mesquite, Nevada in 1995. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Mesquite Elks Lodge and American Legion. Robert worked in the trucking industry for most of his life. He was Secretary Treasurer of the Teamsters Local 222 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was appointed by the Governor of Utah as Assistant to the Director of the Department of Transportation for five years. Robert enjoyed golfing, playing his guitar and singing.

Robert is survived by his wife Dinah Chaney; one stepchild Gayle Terry; two grandchildren, Alissa and Dana; and one great grandchild Lisa; He was the youngest of 11 children; he has many nieces and nephews in Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his stepchild Lisa Shuput and all his brothers and sisters.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 700 Hardy Way Mesquite, NV. In lieu of flowers please sent a donation to Virgin Valley Home Care and Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of Virgin Valley Mortuary 346-6060.
