Richard Hobdell "Rick" Klippert, Jr., age 80, died Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born January 25, 1940 in Oakland, California to Richard Hobdell and Carol Ione Knight Klippert. In April of 1962, he married Sheila Marie Myers in Klamath Falls, Oregon. They had one son and were later divorced. On December 30, 1974 he married Virginia Ann Riley in Reno, Nevada. They had two daughters before she preceded him in death on June 19, 1979. On September 5, 1979 he married Penelope Ann Barker in Bethesda, Maryland.
Richard grew up in Oakland. He served in the US Navy during Vietnam where he was awarded the Silver Star for his valient efforts. He raised his family in Virginia, New York and Colorado as he completed his Naval Career. He later worked in Sacramento as a program management consultant in the computer science industry. He retired to Reno, Nevada in 2002 but soon moved to the warmer climate of Mesquite, Nevada in 2009. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and building model airplanes and helicopters.
Survivors include his wife, Penelope of Mesquite; son, David (Sherri) Klippert - Rowe of McKinney, TX; three daughters: Deborah (Mustapha Cheramti) Rowe of England; Candice (John) Dodd of Broadway, VA; Kristina Klippert of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one brother, Bill (Nancy) Klippert of Santa Rosa, CA. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen.
