Richard Charles Storick, 96, passed away on January 21, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV. Richard was born on January 20, 1925 in Detroit, MI to Harold Charles and Ruth E. Harling Storick. After graduating from high school, Richard joined the U.S. Navy and was sent to the Pacific Theater. He was one of the first of his crew to step on the new oil tanker, the U.S.S. Tuluga AO-62. He was very proud of his military service, and enjoyed the many reunions in his later years with old friends and crew mates. After the war, Richard met Dorothy Louise Mumper, and they were married in Iron Mountain, MI on March 14, 1947, and they were married for sixty years until her passing on January 22, 2008.
Richard was a jack-of-all-trades and could figure out how to make anything work. He ran several businesses, bars, restaurants, and worked as a mechanic. He later worked at the Home Hardware in Overton, NV, and many people would come to him for help. He and Dorothy loved to travel, and would venture to Canada every summer. They once worked for a Carnival, traveling over the western states, selling tickets. He would constantly be tinkering with his old Cadillac. He had many friends and will be missed.
Richard is survived by his children, Penny (Frank) Vallone, Robert Storick, and Ronald Storick; his grandchildren, Frank Storick, Julianne Villezcas, Ryan Storick, Laura Shaffer, and Tony Boxell; his six great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce Emerick; and his long-time companion, Joann Erickson.
Richard will be buried at a later date at the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their Guest Book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
