Richard William Ronk of Mesquite, Nevada passed away on June 1, 2020. He was 76 years old. Richard was born in Los Angeles, California on November 18, 1943. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Economics from California State University at Northridge, and later studied theology at Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles. Throughout his career, Richard had many jobs that took him to a number of places in the United States and abroad, including 34 states, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Spain.
From his earliest job as a valet at private parties in Beverly Hills to motivational speaking before crowds of hundreds, he found his favorite job last year when he became a grandfather. He would stop by almost daily to see his grandson and created a bond reminiscent of the one he shared with his own beloved Poppy in the 1940s. His children will remember his kindness, generosity, quick wit and fun demeanor until the end.
Richard was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Concepcion Romero Servin; maternal grandfather, Guillermo Servin; mother, Martha Louise Servin; father, Samuel Okey Ronk; and sister, Martha Anne Ronk.
Richard is survived by his former wife, Susan Branley, of Roaring Brook, PA; daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth of Pittsburgh, PA; son, Grayson William, of Brooklyn, NY; daughter, Glenn Leslie, of Mesquite, NV; grandson, Bennett William, of Mesquite, NV; and sister, Judy Primack, of Ventura, California.
Services will be private, and he will be interred at Calvary Cemetery and Mortuary in Los Angeles with his family. The family would like to invite you to share a memory or message on their “Guestbook” at virginvalley mortuary@gmail.com.
