Richard Longhurst Grant, age 82, died Friday, January 9, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born April 8, 1932 in Shelley, Idaho to Clarence Edwin and Mary Lucille Longhurst Grant. On May 14, 1958 he married Joan Goody in Lewisville, Idaho.
Richard grew up in Idaho Falls. He spent some of his high school years in Logandale, NV and graduated from Moapa Valley High School. In 1964 he moved his young family to Las Vegas where he worked many years in construction, retiring from the Teamsters Union. He loved the cowboy life, horses, hunting and being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and time in the hills in his dune buggy with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joan; his son, Gerald (Darlene); his daughter, Linda (Darren) Bay all of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren and one sister, Helen Purcell of Idaho Falls, ID. He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Finn.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Meadows 4th Ward Chapel, 3200 Mustang Street, Las Vegas, NV. A second visitation will be Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 11 - 11:30 a.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary, 5090 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., Logandale, Nevada. Graveside services will follow at Noon at the Logandale Cemetery.
