Richard M Eckhardt

Richard M. Eckhardt of Mesquite, NV passed away December 12, 2011. He was born November 05, 1932 in Yoder, WY, the son of Louie and Opal (Murrell) Eckhardt. He married Wanda Wagner in Torrington, WY on June 18, 1955. He enlisted in the Navy in 1952, and upon completing boot camp in San Diego, CA was assigned to the Battleship USS Iowa. He worked in construction and learned the auto body business on the VA bill. After working auto body for many years he taught auto body for 20 years at the vocational school in Riverton, WY. He enjoyed being outdoors with his horses, fishing, hunting and playing golf. He also enjoyed playing his guitar. He is survived by wife Wanda, two sons; Rick (Jill) Independence CA; David, Arvada WY, one daughter Pamela (Wayne) Petersen, Riverton, WY; six grandchildren; two brothers Dan Eckhardt, Torrington, WY, Rodney Eckhardt, Shoshoni, WY, three sisters; Wanda Weeks Fender, Clifton, CO, Annetta Bentley, Commerce City, CO, Sylvia Larson, Torrington, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank Eckhardt, Willard Eckhardt, James Roy Eckhardt, William Eckhardt, Rodger Eckhardt, two sisters, Loretta Helmers and Lynda Hatch. A memorial will be held at Virgin Valley Mortuary , 320 E. Old Mill Road, Mesquite, NV, Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Center, Salt Lake City, Utah.
