Richard Brian Daboda, age 63, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas. He was born on August 18, 1949, the first born child of Francis W. and Leimomi Kealoha Dagampat Daboda. Richard grew up in East Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, where he excelled on the school tennis team. He met his wife Iris Mike in Los Angeles, they moved to Moapa, Nevada and have remained for 46 years. He worked on the tribal farm, for KR Jensen, the tribal store and the Reid Gardner Power Plant before he retired. Richard really enjoyed coaching the young boys in basketball, baseball, and football. He would travel with the teams to tournaments with surround tribes and local teams. He also played on baseball and basketball teams and enjoyed those tournaments as well. He loved people and talking with them, no one was a stranger. He filled his life with a love of many things; cooking and BBQ for family, friends and tribe, camping and taking youth to the lake, hunting with Eugene Tom and Raymond Anderson, pine nut picking. He loved watching the Dodgers, Lakers, LA Rams, NASCAR racing, sci fi and cooking shows. His yard was important to him and he took care of it every day. He enjoyed music and going to concerts, he loved to dance. Richard loved his family and took very good care of them. Learning some of the Paiute culture and traditions was important to him. He confronted obstacles and challenges with confidence and determination, always moving forward to begin new challenges. His philosophy of living was not materialistic. He always shared whatever he might have had. He may not have been materially rich, but he had a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, if one cared to listen and absorb. He was happiest when he brought a smile and laughter to someone's life.
