Ricardo (Buddy) Gutierrez Veloz Jr.,36, passed away on September 18, 2021 on the trails of Gold Butte, NV. He was born on March 13, 1985 in Apple Valley, CA to Richard Gutierrez Veloz and Sandra Gay Wilde. He was well-loved, a wonderful man and a loyal friend to many. Most knew him by his well-deserved nickname “Buddy”. He was kind and generous, often seeking ways to help those around him. He met the love of his life, Meryred Martinez, and they had big plans for the future. He loved God and was a devout Christian.
Buddy was raised in Hesperia, CA. He attended Sultana High School, where he played football, soccer and loved skateboarding. He graduated in 2003 and moved to Arizona to attend Universal Technical Institute (UTI). He was a hard worker his entire life, as a kid he pulled weeds and did odd jobs, then at sixteen he worked at Del Taco. He worked at FedEx to earn his way through school. His hard work paid off as he graduated top of his class at UTI. Buddy was recruited by C&L Refrigeration and was quickly promoted to Supervisor, moving to Las Vegas, NV. He worked there for over seventeen years and was well respected. He was also very involved in RETA Southern Nevada Chapter.
Buddy loved being outdoors and doing high adventure, camping, riding off-road vehicles, rock-climbing, boating, snowboarding, shooting, hiking and mountain biking. He loved fixing cars. As a teenager his dad and he restored a 68’ Volkswagen which he still has to this day.
Buddy is survived by his partner, Meryred Martinez; his son, Jirokurt Romobio; his parents, Sandra and Richard Veloz; his sisters, Michelle (David) Plumb, Faith (Erik) Hendriks, and Anna-Marie (Jayson) Swigart; his cousin Tina (Jason) Graham and a large extended family; and many dear friends.
