Raymond Gene Brown

December 14, 1932 — March 29, 2016

R. Gene Brown, 83, passed away on March 29, 2016 at his home in Beaver Dam, AZ. Gene was born on December 14, 1932 in El Dorado, KS to Raymond A. Brown and Linda Ann Goirgis. He married Edith Lamb on June 28, 1963 and later divorced. He married Lois L. Hurd Putnam on March 14, 1999 at Las Vegas, NV.

Gene was very proud of the time he served in the Army as a Medical Aid. After he left the service, Gene enjoyed raising Quarter Horses. He would train these magnificent animals for performance and to be Show Horses. He was a lifelong member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and used this knowledge to aid him in his profession as a teacher. Gene taught Vocational Agriculture and FFA Advisor at Mountain View High School for thirty years. In his later years, Gene golfed as much as he could with "all his girls" and his many friends. He was also an avid reader. Gene was a patient man and never judged those around him. He was very compassionate and put others needs before his own. Gene always pushed himself to excellence.

Gene is survived by his wife; Lois Brown, his daughters; Dawna (Cliff) Hoopes, Heidi (Gary) Atkinson, Kim (John) Porter, son in law; Jim May, his grandkids; Jody, Chad, Matt, Casey, Sean, and Jake May, Josh and Dylan Hoopes, Tiffani (Kyle), Travis (Shalee) and Jay Atkinson, Bailey and Mackenzie Porter; eight great-grandchildren; Lois’ children; Michael (Holly) Putnam, Teresa (Cody) Barker, Barbara (Cory) Swensen, Heidi (Brian) Lund, and Tyler (Christine) Putnam, and her 23 grandchildren; and his brother, Duane (Marguerite) Brown, and his sister, Joye (John) Kohl. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Shannon May and a great-grandson.
