Raymon Turley

Raymon Monroe Turley, age 80, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in St. George, Utah. He was born May 30, 1941 in Tucson, Arizona to Alfred James and Nina Margaret Conn Turley. On May 27, 1967 he married Sharon Perkins in Logandale, Nevada.  On May 9, 1970 they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple.  Their marriage made a family of Ray, Sharon, Marie and Roger, with three daughters to join in the coming years.

Ray grew up in Bakersfield, California. He came to Nevada to work for Nevada Power in the early 60's. He worked at Reid Gardner in Moapa for 29 years, raising his family in Logandale.  Following his exit from Nevada Power he worked for Scott Whipple for a few years before consulting with Pen Power, overhauling turbines and commissioning new plants all over the US, China, Pakistan, Guatemala and Spain, but Logandale Nevada was always home.

Ray had many interests including classic cars, hot rods, drag racing, offroad motorcycle racing, street bikes and sightseeing in Sharon’s Jeep. When Ray married Sharon he didn’t know anything about Major League Baseball but he soon became a tried and true LA Dodgers fan. He found great joy in serving others, his greatest joy came from working with the youth in our valley. He spent countless hours on the road supporting his grandchildren in their various activities. Ray was a prankster, he loved teasing his children and he continued the tradition with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He served as Bishop of the Logandale 3rd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and as a missionary with his wife, Sharon, at the Cove Fort Visitor’s Center, twice. Ray was a loyal friend that found the good in everyone.

Ray is survived by his wife, Sharon; one son and four daughters: Marie Comparoni of Las Vegas, NV; Roger (Lisa) Turley of Wales, UT; Carol (Danny) Bulloch of Cedar City, UT; Diana (Mike) Morgan of Logandale, NV; Tonya (Jason) Williams of Monroe, UT; 24 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren, 4 more on the way and one brother, Mike (Xiaoyu Liu) Turley of Toquerville, UT. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Roger Turley.
