Randall Jones

Randall L Jones, age 56, passed away peacefully at his home in Overton, Nevada on Tuesday, January 17, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 17, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Ivan Leon and Dorothy Jane Leavitt Jones. On July 6, 1976 he married Jane Herron in the St. George LDS Temple. Randall lived most of his life in Overton, Nevada. Not long after He and Jane were married, he owned and operated Overton Motors. During this time he was able to work as a volunteer firefighter and found a career that would define his life. He later had the opportunity to sell the garage and was hired by the Henderson Fire Department. He and Jane lived in Henderson for five years before moving back to Overton. He worked as a Henderson Firefighter for 23 years and retired as a Battalion Chief. Randall had a great commitment to serving others and was able to demonstrate that passion through his selfless service and career. Randall was loved by all he had the opportunity to work with. He loved the outdoors, riding his dirt bike, camping, razor riding with family and working in his garden. He will be remembered as a man with integrity, a teasing sense of humor, a love for his career and great devotion and love for his family. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jane; three sons and one daughter: Jeremiah of Overton; Joshua of Las Vegas; Jacob of Overton; Josie of Las Vegas; two grandchildren: Ryder and Mia; one sister, Ivie Ann Walker of Las Vegas and one brother, Jeff (Teresa) of Overton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Overton LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the chapel prior to the services.
