Phil Andersen

Philip Elmo Andersen, age 86, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at his home in Overton, Nevada. He was born May 16, 1927 in Overton, Nevada to Fay Emmanuel and Carrie Solinda Hannig Andersen. On March 26, 1949 he married Romajean Shurtliff in the St. George LDS Temple.

Phil lived most of his life in Overton. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He operated his dairy farm until he sold it and opened Phil's Desert Freeze in Overton. Later he started building and selling homes. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, coin collecting and gardening. Always active in the LDS Church, he enjoyed serving at the temple as an ordinance worker. He will be remembered as a hard worker and for his loyalty to his wife.

Survivors include his wife, Romajean; four daughters: Sandi (Terry) Fisher of Filer, ID; Tammy (Eric) Rollins; Becky (David) May both of Overton; Charleen (Jim) May of Provo, UT: 18 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, one granddaughter, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Overton LDS 1st Ward Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery.
