Elmer Pete Kesl, age 71, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at his home in Overton, Nevada surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 17, 1939 in Salmon, Idaho to Elmer and Stella Dole Kesl. On August 11, 1973 he married Rebecca Herrera in Cuba, New Mexico. Pete grew up in Salmon, Idaho. He was introduced to the mining industry by his Father as a young man. He progressed through the ranks and gained the knowledge and abilities to become the manager of several mining operations. He lived and worked in several areas including New Mexico, Idaho, Wyoming , Montana, Oklahoma, Mexico and Nevada. In 1998 he retired to Overton, Nevada where he worked for a time at Echo Bay Marina and volunteered and served on the board for the Overton Senior Center. Pete enjoyed golfing, horses and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca of Overton; nine daughters and one son: Carol (Johnny) Mascarenas of Reno, NV; Kathy Serrano of Overton, NV; Jill Kesl of Sheridan, WY; Della (Anthony) Frank of Moapa, NV; Stella Edwards; Kevin Kesl both of Sheridan, WY; Josephine (David) Mabe of Sierra Vista, AZ; Ginger (Billy) Larsen; Maxine (Marsh) Miers both of Elko, NV; Cindy (Marshall) Staton of Overton, NV; 27 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary, Logandale, Nevada. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the mortuary. A celebration of life will take place following the service at the Overton Senior Center. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Pete's name to the Overton Senior Center, Overton, Nevada or Great Basin College, Mechanics Department, Elko, Nevada.
