Oscar Manuel Anchondo, 77, of Moapa, NV passed away on May 11, 2024 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born in El Pajarito, Chihuahua, Mexico, on February 10, 1947 to Leonides and Delfina Anchondo.

As a young man Oscar served in Mexico’s Military patrolling the Sierra Madres before immigrating to the U.S.. He lived in New Mexico in his early years where he met his first wife and worked as a construction mason, a trade he would continue in throughout his life. Later Oscar would move to Las Vegas, NV, where he would meet his most recent wife and best friend Maria Esther Ortiz. Together, they would dedicate their lives to their faith as active members of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church and the Grupo de Oracion. In 1995 he moved his family to the Moapa Valley where he achieved the American dream through ownership of his beloved Lytle Ranch property.

Oscar loved his children who are a true testament to all that was good in his life. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a man of courage and strength and a quick wit. He loved life and lived it to the fullest to the very end. He overcame many personal struggles throughout his life.

Oscar is survived by his daughters, Sonia (Salvador) Rocha-Palos of Albuquerque, NM; Sylvia  (Adrian) Fierro of Midland, TX; Alicia (Eric) Ramos of North Las Vegas, NV; Delfina Anchondo of Madison, WI; Monica Anchondo of Las Vegas, NV; Grandchildren Destiny, Adrian, Emilio, Bryan, Faith, Juliana; great grandchild Bentley; his siblings, Rojelio (Elizabeth) of Las Vegas, NV; Alma Anchondo of Chihuahua, Mexico; Alvardo Anchondo of Las Vegas NV, Lupe Anchondo of Chihuahua, Mexico; Lila Anchondo of Chihuahua, Mexico; in addition to many loved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Leonides and Delfina Anchondo; wife, María Esther Ortiz; sons, Jose and Oscar Jr. Anchondo; siblings Hilberto Anchondo, Sylvia Anchondo, Carmen Anchondo and Anna Cardenas.

Visitation services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary at 5090 N. Moapa Valley Blvd, Logandale, NV 89021. Visitation and Rosary services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 10-11:00 a.m. at the St. John’s Catholic Church at 2955 Saint Joseph St, Logandale, NV 89021, with a Funeral Mass held at 11:00 a.m., followed by Graveside Services at the Logandale Cemetery.
