Opal Dayes

Opal Dayes, age 96, passed away peacefully Friday, June 4, 2010 at her home in Logandale, Nevada. She was born June 11, 1913 in Egar, Arizona to Loren Sumner and Martha Ann Nelson Mattice. On February 19, 1932 she married Alfred William Holmgren in Pasadena, California. They were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. They had two children and were later divorced. In 1984 she married Albert Dayes and were later divorced. Opal grew up in the White Mountains near Thatcher, Arizona until at age 10 her family moved to Southern California. She remained there until relocating to Logandale in 1987. She worked as a waitress for over 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and knitting. She will be remembered as a vivacious, lively, lovely person who loved everyone. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Wisner of Logandale, NV; son, Warren (Delia) Holmgren of Roy, UT: eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and one sister, Calla Willey of Atascadero, CA. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Logandale LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
