Nora Margaret Brown Clancy (87) entered her eternal rest Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Highland Manor, Mesquite, Nevada. Nora Margaret was born June 3, 1924 in Newton, Kansas. Nora Margaret's early work was for the Northern Pacific Railroad as a stenographer. Nora Margaret was employed 25 years as data processor for the California Secretary of State in Sacramento. She married Neil Clancy on July 18, 1959 in Sacramento, California. They moved to Chandler, Oklahoma in 1980. There she cared for her Mother until her death. Nora Margaret was active in the Catholic Ladies Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary and Homemakers. She learned the keyboard so that she could accompany hymn singing at church. Neil and Nora retired to Mesquite, Nevada in 1992. They enjoyed visiting with friends and feasting from the wonderful food buffets at the casinos. She loved to watch a good story on television.

Nora Margaret's work taught her to be exceptional in cutting through red tape. A skill she also applied to her home life. She had good business skills. Nora took exceptional pride in her appearance and worked with professional beauticians to help her keep her hair and nails in perfect condition all through her life. Even in March of 2011, she had long painted fingernails with special little glitter dots added. This desire to be well kept, however, did not stand in the way of helping with the chores to care for a small herd of livestock in both Sacramento and Chandler. Loss of a fingernail was not a concern in accomplishing the task at hand.

Neil passed away July 11, 1999 in Mesquite. Nora Margaret has been a resident of Highland Manor for the past 11 years. She greatly appreciated her friends and care givers at Highland Manor. Nora Margaret Clancy is survived by her husband's children, Chris Huffman, Memphis, TN and Tamara Dykes, Olathe, KA. She is also survived by her husband's sisters, Eileen Van Dyck, Medford, OR; Lorna Miller, Madison, WI; Lucile Zink, Fargo, ND; Sharon Clancy, Valley City, ND; brother Lynn Clancy, Bismarck, ND; niece Kathy Schlotman, Valley City, ND; nephews Jerry Clancy, Thompson, ND; John Clancy, Tower City, ND.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at Highland Manor 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011, with burial next to her husband at the Veterans Cemetery, Boulder, Nevada.
