Noel "Noey" D. Tom, age 45, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 in the afternoon, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Janine Tom whom he shared 5 years of marriage. Born in Las Vegas, he was the son of Dalton Tom and the late Sandra Bushhead.
Noey was raised and educated in Moapa and Overton, Nevada. He was a graduate of Moapa Valley High School in 1990. His passion for the arts led him to the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He further attended and graduated from The Harley Davidson Late Model Program as a Motorcycle Mechanics Technician.
Noey had a calling to be a Traditional Salt Singer for his Paiute people. His greatest joy came from lighting up crowds with his deep loud raspy songs on his string guitar.
He is survived by his wife Janine Winnemucca Tom of Moapa, NV; father Dalton Tom of Las Vegas, NV; siblings: Shane Tom (Brandy) of Moapa, NV, Shanna Hardy (Scott) of Moapa, NV, Rebecca Tom-Grassrope of Moapa, NV, Brandon Bushhead Moapa, NV, Scott Martin of Oregon, and Shalin Tom of Sun Valley, NV; uncle Norman Tom of Bunkerville, AZ; aunt Rebenna Tom of Mesquite, NV; aunt Janet Bushhead of Moapa, NV; and uncle Dudley Bushhead of Moapa, NV; and many family and friends and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother Sandra Bushhead; step mother Janis Tom; Uncle Elliott Bushhead; grandparents: Reuben and Ethel Segmiller Tom and Gilbert and Thalia Bushhead.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 3 pm. Viewing or visit will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m., both on the Moapa Paiute Indian Reservation, Moapa, NV. A traditional sing will take place after the services. Interment will follow in the early morning of Thursday, March 22, 2018.
