Nina Marthann "Marty" Whipple

Nina Marthann (Marty) Whipple, age 70, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marty was born June 29, 1939 in Alhambra, California to Donald Henry and Anne Edith Shumard Freer. She married Roy C Muns in 1959 and had four children but were later divorced. She married J Lynn Whipple in Las Vegas, Nevada and they were later sealed in the St. George Temple in 1976.

Marty grew up in Southern California and graduated from El Monte High School. She received her RN from UNLV and worked in multiple hospitals in Las Vegas. She spent the last twenty years of her career as a charge nurse for UMC Hospital. She raised her family in Las Vegas and finally settled in Moapa in 1978.

She enjoyed making porcelain dolls and ceramics. She was a member of the LDS church and enjoyed serving in the Primary and in the Temple as an ordinance worker. She was very fun-loving and loved her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her mother, Anne Freer, husband, J Lynn of Moapa, NV, three sons, Donald Muns of Petersburough, England, Roy (Oralia) Muns of Phoenix, AZ, David (Margie) Muns of Moapa, NV, and a daughter Lynn Bulow of Bountiful, UT; two step children, Sandy (Richard) Alba, Nicholas (Tina) Whipple; son in law, Mike Ricciardo, all of Las Vegas, NV; 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Linda (Les) Salgren of Auberry, CA and Dona (Erwin) Clouse of Crossville, TN. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Freer and step-daughter, Rhonda Ricciardo.

Viewing Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Moapa Valley Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Moapa LDS Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Warm Springs Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
