Nansi Jo Nicholes Nelson, 62, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born in Logan, Utah on February 8, 1952 to Hal Kay (Nick) and Janiece Knowles Nicholes. She married Paul Scott Nelson on September 10, 1971 in Fish Lake, Utah.
Nansi and Scott made their home in North Logan for 19 years and raised their two beautiful daughters. Mom had a big heart and spent countless hours in service to many throughout her life. She worked as a hospital volunteer for many years and loved the opportunity to visit with and care for those in need. She also cared for many in her North Logan neighborhood. Nansi worked for Dr. Paul Daines and in the Pharmacy in Fred Meyer. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gambling, but most of all, thinking about and loving her children and grandchildren. They were truly her life!
Once their daughters had grown, she and Scott moved to Mesquite to escape the cold weather of Cache Valley. While living in Mesquite, Nansi was involved in and supported many groups and activities. She worked for years at the Virgin Valley Clinic. She and Lynn Forbes started the Salvation Army in Mesquite. Nansi would travel twice each week to Las Vegas to get additional food items to benefit the people that she loved and served. She enjoyed working on the Events Board in Mesquite. She and many other volunteers spent countless hours preparing and putting on events in Mesquite. Mom loved her flower garden and grew the most beautiful and amazingly fragrant roses. She also loved her cockatiels Bebe, Beaugh and Mr. Big.
Nansi is survived by her husband Scott and two daughters, Deserae (Steven) Archibald of Benson, Utah, and Danielle Olsen of Star Valley, Wyoming; grandchildren, Kurtis (Cassie) Nyman, Alyssa Archibald, Tia Archibald, Riley Olsen, and Rhys Archibald. She is also survived by her brothers, David (Ruby) Nicholes of Twenty Nine Palms, California, Bart (Karen) Nicholes of Wellsville, and Marsha (and the late Randy) Hodges of Tremonton, Utah. Nansi was preceded in death by her parents.
She will be terribly missed by her best friend and forever loving husband. God bless you Honey!
