Naina Olive
Naina Vasimata OlivAC., age 71, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008 in St. George, Utah. She was born July 23, 1937 in Nukunuku, Tonga Tapu to Sione Vaisa MailAC. and Meleane Fusi Latu. Naina was the sixth of twelve children. Naina grew up in Tonga where she met and married Heamasi Kaulave OlivAC. on December 12th, 1957.They were sealed on June 08th, 1961 in the Hawaii Temple.
After many years of service as labor missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the Tongan Islands, Naina and Kaulave migrated with their children to the U.S. and made Laie, Hawaii was their home for a few years before they moved to the mainland where they called Ontario, California their home. Naina had a very strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and held various positions where she had the opportunity to serve others. One of the ways Naina served others was with her talent as a seamstress. Her talent as a seamstress was such that you could take her some fabric, showing her a picture of what you wanted, and she would take your measurements and you would come back in the evening and the clothing you wanted would be ready. Naina made countless quilts and clothing for others throughout her life as an act of service.
Naina comes from a family rich in pioneer heritage in the Tongan Islands. The MailAC. family was some of the very first members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Tongan Island. Grandma Elenoa Lose MailAC. (Peleki) and Grandpa Kitione MailAC. opened their hearts in the early 1900's to the Elders and now generations are blessed. An irony of Naina's passing is she will be laid to rest among some of the early pioneers of the church and of this valley.
Naina is survived by her sons, Joseph Alani OlivAC. (Ca), Semisi Mounga OlivAC. (NV), Paul Maline OlivAC. (AZ), George Edward OlivAC. (TX),18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces whom she loved.
